How Share of Shelf is calculated
Share of Shelf represents the proportion of all shopping placements occupied by an entity within the current analysis. The calculation is:Share of Shelf = Number of shopping placements for the selected entity ÷ Total number of shopping placementsThe metric is expressed as a percentage (%). The denominator always corresponds to the current analysis scope. If you apply filters such as engines, date ranges, themes or topics, the total number of shopping placements is recalculated accordingly and Share of Shelf is updated automatically.
Example If your filtered analysis contains 800 shopping placements and a product appears in 120 of them, its Share of Shelf is 15%.
How to read this KPI
A higher Share of Shelf means an entity is recommended more frequently across conversational shopping experiences. It measures recommendation frequency, not recommendation order. A product, brand or merchant can therefore have:- a high Share of Shelf, meaning it appears in many shopping recommendations;
- or a lower Share of Shelf, meaning it is recommended less frequently.
