# Chat with a Persona
> Have a live, in-character conversation with any persona in your Library.
**Chat with a Persona** is an add-on to [Personas](/concepts/personas): instead of only reading a persona's profile, you can open a live conversation with it. Ask a question, and the persona replies in character — as itself, in the first person — turning a static persona sheet into a back-and-forth between you and your audience.
Chat with a Persona is currently in **Beta**.
## Where to find it
There are two entry points:
* From the **persona list** in the Library, below the row of action buttons.
* From any **persona's detail page** — select **Chat with persona** in the top-right corner.
Either one opens the Persona Chat panel alongside the persona's profile, with a summary card showing its archetype, brand and category tags, age range, income range, and country.
## How it works
The persona's replies are generated by AI, grounded in that persona's full profile — not just demographics, but its job to be done, pain points, purchase barriers, values, and buying triggers. Ask about pricing, trust, category habits, or anything else in the persona's world, and the answer comes back in a tone consistent with who that persona is.
Answers are AI-generated and may be inaccurate or incomplete. Treat them as a directional read of the persona, not a substitute for real customer research. Chat activity may be used to improve the Share of Model platform, per its Terms and Conditions — the same notice is shown in-app before you start chatting.
## Starting a conversation
There are two ways to start:
* **Suggested placeholders** — the panel opens with four ready-made questions, covering loyalty, trust, awareness, and price-value. The first three are always available; the fourth needs data that isn't always on a persona:

If a persona is missing income or occupation, the price-value placeholder is swapped for **"How well does \[brand] reflect your values and lifestyle?"** instead of showing a broken or empty question.
* **Ask anything** — type your own question in the box at the bottom of the panel.
The four placeholders above are only the default starting set shown in-app — they aren't the full list. A larger [library of suggested questions](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10aaKQGLVJ6RHYnAFMHRxUguu71q3a-0xjl9qvMIviTc/edit?gid=0#gid=0) is available if you want more starting points; it isn't (yet) browsable from the product itself.
You can start a new conversation or revisit a previous one from the controls at the top of the panel.
